Let’s Talk About Salads Baby!

Salads can be a great source of nutrition for any diet or lifestyle, but they tend to get boring especially if you don’t add your own flare and pizzazz to them.

The tricky thing about salads, it that you have to be very careful of what you’re putting on to it because there are a lot of salads that are heavy in sodium, carbs, and even sugar. Sometimes people think just because they are eating a salad, that it means, they are eating health. Many times, the salads are doused with dressing and heavy amounts of cheese or even fried meat or seafood. I am sorry to break it to you, but that is not a healthy salad.

Fortunately, just because it has to be a healthy salad, doesn’t mean it can’t be delicious and fun to put together. I pack my salads with a lot of ingredients that don’t only taste delicious, but are healthy.

Disclaimer: I am not vegan, so some of the things that I have listed are not something that some of you might put on your salad, but thankfully, there are healthy alternatives.

Dressings:

I always make my own dressings because it’s fun to create different dressings.

If I want a lighter dressing, then I’ll use lemon, olive oil, salt, and pepper. If I want a creamier dressing, I’ll use the ranch seasoning packs and mix them with some mayonnaise and some water. Sometimes I add a little hot sauce to it as well.

There are so many fun ways to make a salad absolutely delicious and pack it with so many nutrients. I always say that salads should be colorful and full of life, so if you add a lot of different veggies to them, then you will get an assortment of colors.
